An easy dumpling recipe, perfect for dinner, Super Bowl Sunday, and Chinese New Year’s! Love a multi-tasking dish. This recipe is inspired by 小高姐 on Youtube and served with optional chili oil and soy sauce.
Mix together chicken, soy sauce, ginger, spices (white pepper and five spice powder), egg white, scallions, salt, and sesame oil.
Heat up the ¼ cup of veggie oil until smoking.
Pour hot oil over the chicken mixture and mix vigorously in one direction.
Add the chopped cilantro stems and mix again.
Add 1 tbsp of filling to the middle of a circular dumpling wrapper and dab the edges with water.
Pinch the middle, then pleat from the outside in.
Place folded dumplings on a cold pan with 1 tbsp of oil.
When dumplings are sizzling, add ¼ cup of water, and cover with a lid.
Let the dumplings steam until water has mostly evaporated and skins are slightly translucent (about 5 mins).
Serve with chili oil and soy sauce.
